Senator Abba Patrick Moro, representing Benue South Senatorial District and serving as the Senate Minority Leader, expressed his views on the recent developments within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He emphasized that the continuation of Amb. Umar Lliya Damagum as the Acting National Chairman of the party should be seen as a victory for the PDP as a whole, rather than a win or loss for specific individuals.

Senator Moro clarified that the decision to retain Amb. Damagum was made collectively by the party’s stakeholders to ensure progress and unity within the PDP. He stressed that attributing the party’s actions solely to individuals like Nyesom Wike or Atiku Abubakar overlooks the diverse perspectives and motivations of the party’s members nationwide.

Regarding the presence of Nyesom Wike at the National Caucus meeting, Senator Moro explained that as a former governor and current party member, Wike had the right to attend until any disciplinary actions were taken against him. He highlighted the importance of following the party’s constitution and disciplinary processes to maintain order and accountability.

Looking ahead to the next NEC meeting, Senator Moro mentioned the party’s clear succession plan outlined in its constitution. He indicated that a replacement for the National Chairman position, following Senator Iyorchia Ayu’s withdrawal, would be determined in accordance with the party’s constitutional provisions.

Senator Moro urged all PDP members and stakeholders to exercise caution and unity in their actions and statements to avoid further division within the party. He reassured that efforts would be made to steer the PDP towards success and alleviate the challenges faced by Nigerians under the current APC administration.

In conclusion, Senator Abba Patrick Moro’s perspective sheds light on the internal dynamics of the PDP and emphasizes the importance of collective decision-making and adherence to party principles for the benefit of all members and the Nigerian populace.
