Emeka Ihedioha Views Mass Exodus from PDP in Imo State as Vote of Confidence in His Leadership

Former Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha, interprets the significant exodus from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State following his departure as a resounding endorsement of his leadership.

In an interview on AriseTV, Ihedioha explained that his decision to leave the PDP stemmed from the desire of his substantial followership for him to spearhead change and reconstruct Imo State. He lamented the party’s failure to address crucial issues and its perceived drift from its founding principles.

Highlighting the disillusionment with the PDP, Ihedioha noted that Nigerians no longer view the party as a viable contender for government positions due to its recent actions and lack of electoral success. He emphasized the importance of political perception and cited the dismal performance of the PDP in recent elections in Imo State as evidence of its decline.

Ihedioha criticized the PDP’s leadership, accusing them of being resistant to constructive criticism and unwilling to take steps to rejuvenate the party. He emphasized that his decision to resign was driven by the overwhelming support of his followership, which included influential political figures across various levels of government.

The mass resignations from the PDP reportedly involved former governors, deputy governors, ministers, members of the House of Representatives, senatorial candidates, and other politically active individuals, signaling a widespread endorsement of Ihedioha’s leadership and a collective desire for political progress.
