Festus Keyamo Inspects Kano International Airport Ahead of Inaugural Pilgrimage Flight

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, recently conducted an inspection of the newly installed facilities at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano in preparation for the inaugural flight of intending pilgrims.

According to a statement by Mr. Tunde Moshood, the Special Assistant on Media and Communications to Keyamo, the minister’s visit included discussions with Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State, focusing on enhancing the airport’s infrastructure to ensure smooth operations for travelers.

Keyamo urged the state government to facilitate the installation of a dedicated power line at MAKIA to address persistent power outages, particularly affecting the air-conditioning system. He also appealed for support in acquiring two additional generating plants to supplement electricity supply, guaranteeing uninterrupted operations for pilgrims and travelers.

During the meeting with Governor Yusuf, the minister outlined three critical requests aimed at enhancing efficiency and functionality at MAKIA. The governor’s deputy, Aminu Gwarzo, warmly welcomed the minister and assured him of the state government’s commitment to addressing the outlined requests promptly.

Subsequently, the deputy governor joined the minister’s entourage for a comprehensive tour of the newly installed facilities at the Hajj camp section of MAKIA, emphasizing the collaborative efforts between federal and state governments to ensure a seamless experience for pilgrims.

Keyamo expressed gratitude for the hospitality and support extended by the Kano State government and reiterated the ministry’s dedication to enhancing aviation infrastructure across Nigeria.
