Sterling Bank announced that it will waive all personal‑account transaction fees as a gesture of solidarity with customers confronting the new naira scarcity challenge. Chief Executive Officer Abubakar Suleiman communicated the decision in an email to customers, explaining that from 6 February 2023 through 18 February 2023, fund‑transfer services will be provided free of charge to all personal‑account holders. In addition, the bank will issue free debit cards to any interested customers, offering a convenient and secure way to make purchases and conduct transactions.

The initiative is part of Sterling Bank’s ongoing effort to support its clients and the broader public as Nigeria transitions to the newly issued naira notes being distributed nationwide. Chief Marketing Officer Dante Martins added that eliminating transaction costs during this period will help customers enjoy a smoother banking experience by leveraging the bank’s digital solutions. He emphasized the bank’s commitment to giving consumers more choices for their everyday needs and ensuring they receive the best possible service during this time.
