CPR improves survival chances, says group

A group of healthcare providers, RNZ Global, has emphasised that Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation increases the chances of survival following a cardiac arrest.

The co-founder/Director of RNZ Global, Mrs PatriciaSulaiman, disclosed this, according to a statement on Sunday, during abroad-based training and awareness organised for residents of Carlton GateEstate, in Lekki on the efficiency of CPR and Automated External Defibrillators.

Sulaiman, said, “The event was designed to raiseawareness on the usefulness of CPR and AED among the residents of the estate. Themodest gesture was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of RNZ Global.

“Hopefully, the participants would share the knowledgethey have acquired from the training with neighbours and Nigerians.            CPR can drastically increase thechance of survival following a cardiac arrest with rapid chest compressionsmimicking the heartbeat to encourage blood flow to vital organs.”

On her part, the President of the Estate’s Residents, MrsRonke Banjo, said, “Prof and Mrs Wale Sulaiman deployed CPR to save the life ofa young man in the estate in his efforts to rescue a neighbour from a fireaccident and this informed the free training.”
