Arsenal Decide Against Pursuing Everton Midfielder Amadou Onana

Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s transfer chief Edu have concluded their decision regarding Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, opting not to pursue the Belgian international despite the need for midfield reinforcements.

The Gunners are actively seeking a player to partner with Declan Rice in the midfield. Although Jorginho extended his contract for another year, the departures of Mohamed Elneney and the expected exit of Thomas Partey have heightened the need for additional midfield strength.

Arsenal had shown interest in Newcastle United’s Bruno Guimaraes, though competition from Manchester City and Guimaraes’ contentment at Newcastle complicate that pursuit.

Onana, initially linked to Arsenal in January, will not be targeted by the North London club, according to the Mirror. The decision against making a bid for the £60 million-rated midfielder is based on the assessment that he does not fit into Arteta’s tactical plans.

Everton, facing financial difficulties, are expected to sell one of their key players this summer. Onana, keen to showcase his talents at Euro 2024, hopes to attract interest from potential suitors during the tournament.
