Supreme Court affirms Uba Sani as Kaduna APC gov candidate

The Supreme Court of Nigeria, on Wednesday, dismissed two appeals brought against the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State, Uba Sani, in the 2023 poll and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The appeals were filed by Sani Sha’aban, an in-law to the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).

Sha’aban, a former APC governorship aspirant, later moved on to clinch the governorship ticket on the platform of the Action Democratic Party to contest the 2023 governorship poll in the state.

But the solicitor for the APC, who is also a former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Kaduna branch, Sule Shu’aibu, in a statement released to newsmen on Wednesday, said the apex court dismissed both appeals filed by Sha’aban against the governorship candidate of the party in the state, Uba Sani.

He said, “Finally, the two appeals at the instance of Sani Mahmoud Sha’aban against the APC, its Gubernatorial Candidate, Uba Sani, and INEC have both been dismissed this morning bringing an end to the litigation that started at the Federal High Court, Kaduna Division seeking to disqualify the APC Gubernatorial Candidate in the forthcoming General Election.”
