Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa, has called for reinforced ties between the Armed Forces of Nigeria and the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to address the diverse security issues affecting the African continent.
Gen. Musa made this appeal during an official visit to SANDF Chief, Gen. Rudzani Maphwanya, in Pretoria, South Africa. Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, Acting Director of Defence Information, stated on Tuesday in Abuja that the meeting was pivotal in tackling the continent’s multifaceted security challenges and emphasized the need for mutual cooperation and strengthened bilateral relations.
The closed-door discussions between Musa and Maphwanya focused on strategies to address regional security concerns and the exchange of expertise. The goal is to forge stronger ties for the benefit of Africa’s overall security landscape.
As a mark of high regard, Gen. Musa received Cannon Gun Salutes during his visit. Gen. Maphwanya underscored the importance of collaboration between the continent’s largest economies and military powers.
The meeting included SANDF’s Chiefs of Intelligence, Policy and Plans, International Affairs, Joint Operations, and other departmental heads.
