A newly constructed two-storey building at No. 12 Cameroun Street, off Ewenla in the Mushin area of Lagos State, collapsed on Wednesday following intense rainfall that has caused widespread flooding across the city.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident, stating that at least seven people were rescued from the site and rushed to the hospital. The rescue operation, which involved emergency responders searching through the rubble, managed to recover three females and four males, according to Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA.

Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu assured journalists that there were no additional victims trapped under the collapsed building, as the rescue team had thoroughly searched the area. He also noted that the site had been cordoned off to ensure safety and facilitate ongoing investigations.
