Abuja, Nigeria – The Senate has confirmed the nomination of Abdullahi Usman Bello as the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). This confirmation followed a positive report presented by Senator Neda Bernards Imasuen, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, to the Senate on Thursday.

Bello, who hails from Gombe State, was nominated by President Bola Tinubu by Section 154 of the 1999 Constitution, as amended. The Senate Committee on Ethics highlighted Bello’s qualifications and experience, noting that no petitions had been filed against his nomination, thereby recommending his approval.

Senator Imasuen stated, “That the Senate do receive and consider the report of the Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions on the confirmation of Abdullahi Usman Bello for appointment as Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau in accordance with Section 154 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.”

During the debate, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo praised Bello’s qualifications, noting his background as a trained accountant from Gombe. He urged fellow Senators to confirm Bello, assuring that he would perform his duties in line with the CCB’s governing laws.

Following the discussion, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau presided over the plenary and confirmed Bello’s appointment through a voice vote.
