Tinubu Appoints New Leaders for Nigerian Ports Authority

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has announced the appointment of two new leaders to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), a pivotal agency responsible for the country’s maritime sector. Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho has been appointed as the new Managing Director of the NPA, while Senator Adedayo Adeyeye will chair the agency’s board.

Dr. Dantsoho, a maritime expert with a doctorate in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University in the United Kingdom, has a strong background in the NPA. Before his appointment, he held various roles within the agency, including assistant general manager, technical assistant to the managing director, port manager (Onne Port), and principal manager for tariff and billing.

Senator Adeyeye, a seasoned lawyer, journalist, and politician, has a wealth of experience in public service. He is a former Minister of State for Works and former senator representing the Ekiti South senatorial district.

The president has expressed his expectation that the new leadership of the NPA will deploy excellence in the discharge of their duties to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes. With Dr. Dantsoho at the helm and Senator Adeyeye leading the board, the NPA is poised to make a positive impact on Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The appointments are a significant development in the country’s efforts to revamp its ports and improve trade and commerce. With the new leadership in place, stakeholders are hopeful that the NPA will be able to address long-standing challenges and ensure the smooth flow of goods and services.
