Kano State Deputy Governor Empowers LG Administrators with Operational Guidelines

Kano State, Nigeria – The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam, has expressed confidence in the capabilities of individuals tasked with overseeing local government activities in the state. He made the remarks during the inauguration of a three-day orientation retreat in Kaduna State, focusing on the “Operational Guidelines for the Kano State Local Government Interim Management Committee.”

The Deputy Governor explained that the seminar, featuring a series of presentations, aims to equip participants with the necessary knowledge to effectively discharge their responsibilities and promote the development of local government areas. He emphasized the importance of understanding operational guidelines, which will serve as the legal framework for their functions.

Gwarzo advised the interim chairmen to understand all aspects of LGA functions, including the budgeting process, and to seek clarifications from their Directors of Personnel Management (DPMs) or Treasurers where necessary. He reminded the participants that their appointments were based on professionalism, qualifications, and the confidence reposed in them by the current New Nigeria People’s Party administration.

The Deputy Governor urged the Interim Caretaker Committee chairmen, Vice-chairmen, DPMs, Treasurers, and other stakeholders to work collaboratively and sustainably for the betterment of their respective local government areas.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ibrahim Kabara, commended the Deputy Governor for the timely training and encouraged participants to engage wholeheartedly to enhance the development of all local governments in the state.

The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Falgore, represented by his Deputy, Muhammad Bello, highlighted the significance of the operational guidelines, stating that they will provide a framework for the day-to-day activities of local governments, promoting transparency and accountability to enhance effective service delivery.

Participating officials expressed appreciation for Governor Abba Yusuf’s leadership and support of grassroots governance, as well as the Deputy Governor’s approval of empowering local government administrators with the necessary knowledge for sustainable development.

The orientation retreat is seen as a crucial step in empowering local government administrators to effectively discharge their responsibilities and drive development in their respective areas.
