Zambia’s Barbara Banda Names Asisat Oshoala in Her Dream 5-A-Side Team

Zambia Captain Barbara Banda Reveals Her Dream 5-a-Side Team

In a recent exclusive interview with FIFA.com, Zambia captain Barbara Banda has shared her ideal 5-a-side team, featuring some of the world’s top female footballers. The 24-year-old will lead the Copper Queens at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, marking Zambia’s second consecutive appearance at the prestigious tournament.

Banda, widely regarded as one of the best female footballers to have come out of Africa, has named Nigerian star Asisat Oshoala among her top picks. When asked to choose her dream team, Banda thought for a moment before revealing her selection.

“I would start with Marta,” she said. “Then I’ll go with [Nigeria’s Asisat] Oshoala. With me, that’s three.” She then went on to reveal her preferred lineup, which includes Brazilian defender Rafaelle, Marta in midfield, herself up front, Oshoala, and Australian goalkeeper Sophia Smith.

Banda’s admiration for Oshoala is well-deserved, as the Nigerian forward is widely regarded as one of the best players in the world. Oshoala has consistently impressed with her skills on the pitch, and her inclusion in Banda’s dream team is a testament to her exceptional talent.

The Copper Queens are set to make their second consecutive appearance at the Olympics, following their debut in Tokyo four years ago. With Banda at the helm, Zambia is expected to make a strong showing in Paris.
