Violence During #EndSARS Protest Was Instigated by Nigeria’s Federal Government, Says Lawyer Femi Falana

Nigerian human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has claimed that the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protest was instigated, fuelled, and sponsored by the Federal Government. In an interview on Channels Television’s “Politics Today,” Falana accused the government of sending troops to kill protesting youths in Lagos, Oyo, and Benin, among other states.

According to Falana, about 99 Nigerian youths were killed in Lagos within a week, with many more fatalities reported in other states. He claimed that the government decided to unleash hoodlums and thugs on the young people, and when that did not work, they sent troops and soldiers to engage in the killing of young people.

The #EndSARS protest was a nationwide movement that began as a response to police brutality and allegations of corruption within the Nigerian police force. However, the protest turned violent towards the end, with reports of vandalism, looting, and bloodshed.

Falana’s accusations have sparked outrage among many Nigerians, who are calling for accountability from the government. The lawyer is also advocating for the government to engage with the leaders of the planned “EndBadGovernance” protest, which is scheduled to take place across the country in August.

The protest is a response to the economic hardship, poverty, and high cost of living that many Nigerians are facing. Falana believes that the government should address these demands by engaging with the leaders of the protest and finding solutions to the country’s economic problems.
