Don Jazzy Reveals He Won’t Release Music on Same Day as Wizkid, Asake

Don Jazzy Reveals Why He Refuses to Release Music on Same Day as Wizkid or Asake

In a recent podcast interview, Don Jazzy, CEO of Mavin Records, shared an inside look at the music industry in Nigeria. The ace music executive revealed that he does not allow his artistes to release songs or projects on the same day as Wizkid or Asake, citing that it would be suicidal.

Wizkid and Asake are two of the most successful artists in Nigeria in the streaming era, with a massive following and chart-topping hits. Don Jazzy explained that due to the high competition, there are no more Fridays without another artist dropping a song. As a result, Mavin Records is shifting its traditional Friday release date to Wednesdays and Thursdays.

“I will move our release date because you don’t want to just die a natural death,” Don Jazzy said during the interview. He emphasized that releasing music on the same day as Wizkid or Asake would result in lost attention and opportunities for his artists.

Mavin Records boasts a talented roster of stars, including Rema, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx, Boy Spyce, Johnny Drille, and Lifesize Teddy. With Don Jazzy at the helm, the label is constantly pushing the boundaries of Nigerian music and finding innovative ways to stay ahead of the game.
