Olusegun Obasanjo Reveals Mother Carried Him for 12 Months

Nigerian Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo Reveals 12-Month Pregnancy, Cites Witches and Wizards’ Influence

In a dramatic turn of events, former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo revealed that his mother, Bernice Obasanjo, carried him for 12 months before his birth. According to a statement issued by his media assistant, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo made the assertion during a drama presentation titled “Aremu omo Asabi” held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

The former president attributed the delay in his birth to the influence of some witches and wizards who gave his mother a tough time before God’s intervention. He lamented that it was unfortunate that his mother never lived to see how great God had been so marvellously helped him to become in life and enjoy the fruits of her hard labour.

Obasanjo’s mother had given birth to nine children, but only two of them, himself and his sister, survived. He shared that he was the only one who went to school, as his father believed that a female child would end up in the kitchen, regardless of her education.

The drama presentation, which marked 66 years since Obasanjo’s mother’s passing, was a musical tribute to her life. The state governor, Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, praised Obasanjo’s mother as a great woman, whose influence would continue to endure through the lives of her children. The governor also emphasized the importance of honoring and supporting mothers, as they are the bedrock of any society.

The Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Salu Hundeyin, commended Obasanjo for honoring his late mother after 66 years, acknowledging that mothers are special instruments in the hands of God and man, deserving of special treatment and honor.

Obasanjo has promised to support the troupe’s quest to present the longest open drama to clinch a Guinness Book of Record.
