Africa Celebrates Its Rich Heritage at Paris Olympics

As the world unites at the 33rd Olympic Games in Paris, Africa Station is ready to showcase its vibrant cultures and talented athletes. Located in the north of the French capital, this fan zone is a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.

Situated in the Stade Robert Cesar, Africa Station has been transformed into an authentic African village. The venue features a wide range of stalls highlighting the diversity and richness of African cultures, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, CĂ´te d’Ivoire, and Morocco.

The initiative, championed by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) and the city of Ile-Saint-Denis, aims to share African heritage and traditions with visitors. Speaking on behalf of Algeria, Khoudri Hakima said, “We want to show our ‘kaada’ (traditional evenings) where all our families gather.”

African athletes have high hopes for the Olympics, as expressed by Ivorian participant Okeleye akin Yao. He hopes many African athletes will win medals and match the success of European and American teams. “In the Olympic Games, Africa has a special particularity with lots of trophies and medals,” he said. “This is our wish.”

Africa Station expects to welcome over 1,300 visitors daily, with all entertainment free of charge, except for some ticketed concerts. Throughout the Olympics, the venue will host shows, exhibitions, and meetings with athletes, as well as special events during the Paralympics.
