Human Rights Lawyer Blasts Nigerian Political Class, Calls for Fundamental Change

Nigerian human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has launched a scathing attack on the country’s political leaders, labeling them as the “worst of Nigerians” who have enabled widespread corruption and decay. Effiong made the remarks in a recent social media post, where he also emphasized the need for a complete reset of the system.

According to Effiong, the “rot” in Nigeria is deeply entrenched, and something drastic needs to happen to shake the country to its very foundation and bring about lasting change. He believes that individuals occupying political positions are more interested in killing, stealing, and destroying rather than serving the public interest.

Effiong’s comments come as protests are planned across Nigeria from August 1 to August 10, 2024, under the hashtag #EndBadGovernace. Organizers of the protest, tagged #EndBadGovernace, are calling attention to the crippling effects of widespread hunger and inflation in the country.

The lawyer’s remarks have sent shockwaves across the country, with many citizens expressing their frustration and agreement with his assessment. The situation serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for reform and accountability in Nigeria’s political system.

The protests, organized under the banner of #EndBadGovernace, aim to pressure the government to address the country’s pressing issues and adopt policies that benefit the majority. Effiong’s call for fundamental change has resonated with many Nigerians, who are desperate for a better future for themselves and their families.

As the country moves towards the protests, it remains to be seen whether the government will take heed of the widespread discontent and implement meaningful reforms. In the meantime, the people of Nigeria can only hope that a change for the better is forthcoming.
