Arsenal Joins Chelsea in Chase for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen

Arsenal Makes Late Bid to Snatch Victor Osimhen from Chelsea’s Grasp

In a surprise turn of events, Arsenal has reportedly revived its interest in signing Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli, just as Chelsea was poised to land the highly-rated forward. According to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, the Gunners are keen to hijack Chelsea’s bid for Osimhen, who has been a top target for both clubs this summer.

Osimhen, 24, was a subject of intense interest from Arsenal last year, but Mikel Arteta’s interest cooled this year in favor of pursuing Benjamin Sesko. However, with Sesko opting to stay at RB Leipzig, Arteta has reconsidered his options and is now actively pursuing Osimhen once again.

Chelsea, meanwhile, is currently pushing for a loan plus swap deal that would see Romelu Lukaku move to Napoli and Osimhen join the Blues. However, Arsenal has thrown a wrench into these plans by re-entering the race. While no official offer has been tabled by the Gunners, the club is said to be considering all options to strengthen its attacking lineup.

If Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen is successful, they may face stiff competition from another promising striker in Viktor Gyokeres, who has impressed with Sporting Lisbon. The Swedish forward has netted 29 goals and provided 10 assists in 33 league appearances for the Portuguese club, making him an attractive alternative to Osimhen.

As the transfer window approaches its final stages, the battle for Osimhen’s signature is set to be a thrilling one. Will Arsenal be able to outmaneuver Chelsea and land the Nigerian sensation, or will the Blues come out on top? Only time will tell.
