Nollywood Actor and Politician Kenneth Okonkwo Denies Dumping Labour Party

In a recent interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme, Nollywood actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has denied reports that he has left the Labour Party. The veteran actor and chieftain of the party categorically stated that he is still a full-fledged member of the Labour Party.

Okonkwo expressed his embarrassment upon hearing the news of his alleged departure from the party, stating that he had not issued any statement to that effect. When directly asked if he was still a member of the party, he replied affirmatively, emphasizing that there was no crisis in the party related to him.

However, Okonkwo did express concerns over the party’s leadership, particularly in relation to the National Working Committee’s (NWC) failure to organize an all-inclusive convention. He noted that the party’s leader should have taken a decisive decision to ensure an organized and inclusive convention, as per court judgments and past agreements.

It is worth noting that Okonkwo had previously announced his decision to cut ties with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the party as a whole, citing concerns over Obi’s leadership style and inability to tackle national issues. He also questioned Obi’s ability to secure electoral victories and confront the country’s corrupt leaders.

Okonkwo emphasized the need for a more decisive, bold, and brave leader with integrity and team spirit to achieve his vision for Nigeria. Despite his concerns, Okonkwo remains committed to the Labour Party and its ideals.
