The State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the incident in Abakaliki, the state capital. According to Ukandu, the information reaching them from Owutu Police Division reveals that a group of hoodlums attacked the military checkpoint on Friday morning.

"It is not yet certain if there were casualties," Ukandu said. "The attack was carried out by suspected gunmen in the area, who operated with motorcycles."
