Kaduna Governor Accuses Opposition of Exploiting Protests for Political Revenge

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has sparked controversy by alleging that opposition politicians are using the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests for "political revenge" because they lost elections. The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain made the claim on Channels Television’s "The August Protests" programme on Friday.

According to Sani, opposition members are mobilizing vulnerable individuals to join the protests, which he claims is a ploy to gain political leverage. He urged opposition leaders to wait until the next general elections to "change the government through the ballot" instead of exploiting the protests for personal gain.

Sani also criticized some leaders of the protests, saying they are not leading from the front but instead leaving it to others. He shared his personal experience as an activist during the military era, where he physically led protests against government excesses and was detained at times.

Despite his criticism, Sani rejected calls to organize counter-protests, stating that he respects the right to protest and exercised that right during the military regime. He also appealed to Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu time for economic reforms.

Sani’s comments have sparked a heated debate, with many questioning the motives behind his allegations. As the protests continue to unfold, it remains to be seen how the opposition will respond to Sani’s claims.
