Oyo State Governor Makinde Commends Youths and Parents for Peaceful Protests Against Hunger and Hardship
In a statement issued on Saturday, Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, Nigeria, expressed his deep appreciation to all youths and parents in the state who ensured peaceful demonstrations across the state against hunger and hardship in the country.
Makinde made this declaration following the sustenance of the peaceful protest, which began on Thursday, August 1. According to the statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, the governor was among the first set of leaders in Nigeria to publicly support the constitutionality of the #EndHungerProtest, emphasizing that the protest must remain peaceful to achieve its desired results.
The statement further highlighted Makinde’s appeal to all Nigerians to remain law-abiding and avoid any incitement or rancor throughout the period. The governor praised the people, particularly the youths, for keeping their end of the bargain in expecting the Federal Government to make life better for all.
Makinde also called on Nigerians in states where violence had been recorded during the protests to allow peace to reign, as the search for good governance continued.
