Colbert Defends Milwaukee Amid Trump’s “Horrible City” Claims

Colbert Defends Milwaukee Against Trump’s "Horrible City" Remark

In a heated response, Late Show host Stephen Colbert has come to the defense of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after former President Donald Trump reportedly referred to the city as "horrible" in the lead-up to the Republican National Convention next month.

Colbert took umbrage with Trump’s comment, saying, "This man is about to be in a world of deep-fried hurt. I know from personal experience, you do not mess with Milwaukee." The comedian then recalled joking about Milwaukee during the Democratic Convention in 2020, which led to a "formal apology tour" to the city.

"I learned my lesson the hard way, and I have since learned to appreciate Milwaukee, the eternal city," Colbert said. "The Paris of Wisconsin." Trump’s team attempted to defend the former president’s remarks, stating that he was specifically referring to crime in Milwaukee rather than passing judgment on the city as a whole.

Colbert, however, was quick to respond, saying, "Now, he does have a point. Milwaukee has become so soft on crime that this July their convention centre is hosting a convicted felon." The exchange highlights the ongoing debate over crime and law enforcement in Milwaukee, which has been a topic of discussion in recent years.

The incident has sparked a lively debate, with many taking to social media to share their thoughts on the matter. While some have defended Trump’s comments, others have come to the defense of Milwaukee, praising the city’s resilience and determination to overcome its challenges.

As the debate continues, one thing is clear: Stephen Colbert is firmly on the side of Milwaukee, and he’s not afraid to stand up for the city against any perceived slights.
