PDP Crisis: Personal Ambition Tears Party Apart, Says Olabode George

Personal Ambition Tearing Apart Nigeria’s Ruling Party, Says Former Deputy Chairman

In a shocking revelation, Chief Olabode George, a former National Deputy Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has blamed personal ambition for the party’s current crisis. George, a retired Commodore, believes that the ambition of certain party chieftains is hindering genuine reconciliation and may lead to a prolonged crisis.

According to George, the PDP’s founding fathers, led by the late Dr. Alex Ekwueme, laid the party’s foundation by putting aside ethnicity and religion. He recalled that the party was divided into six zones, with the top six positions in the country distributed among them, fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging.

However, George fears that holding on to personal ambition may create problems of marginalization and exclusion. He urged party elders to intervene and resolve the personalized ambitions of party members, emphasizing that this is the key to resolving the crisis.

The former deputy chairman also used the opportunity to reflect on the state of the nation, calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to restructure the country to foster true federalism.

George’s remarks come as a stark warning to the PDP leadership, highlighting the need for party unity and a focus on the greater good. The party’s ability to reconcile its differences and move forward will be crucial in its quest to remain a dominant force in Nigerian politics.
