PDP Appoints Oyinlola as Reconciliation Committee Chair

Peoples Democratic Party Appoints Former Governor as Chairman of National Reconciliation Committee

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a significant step towards mending its internal divisions by appointing a 25-member National Reconciliation Committee. The committee, led by former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, will work to resolve the party’s internal conflicts and strengthen its position ahead of future elections.

Oyinlola, a respected figure in Nigerian politics, will chair the committee, while former Gombe State governor, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, has been appointed as the secretary. The committee’s inception comes after the PDP suffered a crushing defeat in last year’s general elections, where they were outmaneuvered by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement issued by National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP announced that the inauguration of the reconciliation committee will take place at a later date. The committee’s members include prominent figures such as Chibudom Nwuche, Alhaji Bello Tafidan Gusau, Senator Ben Ndi Obi, and Dr. Esther Uduehi, among others.

The committee’s mandate is to bring together PDP leaders, critical stakeholders, and party members to focus on the party’s vision, principles, and aspirations. According to the statement, the committee will be inaugurated on a date to be communicated in due course.

The PDP’s National Working Committee (NWC) has charged all leaders, critical stakeholders, and party members to remain committed to the party’s growth, development, and stability. The committee’s formation is seen as a crucial step towards restoring the party’s unity and positioning it for success in future elections.

With the appointment of the National Reconciliation Committee, the PDP is sending a strong signal that it is committed to addressing its internal divisions and rebuilding its strength. The committee’s work will be closely watched by political observers, who will be eager to see if the PDP can finally put its internal squabbles behind it and present a united front.
