Abducted Nigerian Commissioner for Youths Development: Police Chief Rallies Support for Rescue

In a desperate bid to secure the release of a kidnapped government official, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnaghe Itam, has reached out to his counterpart in Kogi State for support. Patrick Aghamba, the Commissioner for Youths Development in Anambra, was abducted alongside his wife while traveling to Abuja for a wedding.

The kidnapping took place in Kogi State, according to some sources, but the police have received conflicting information from the commissioner’s relatives, who claim it occurred in Ubiaja, Edo State. As of this report, the kidnappers have not contacted the family to demand a ransom or negotiate the release of the hostages.

When approached for confirmation, the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the news was received like everyone else, and the Commissioner of Police in Anambra has rallied support for the rescue of the abducted commissioner. Ikenga further revealed that the Commissioner has posted the news on a strategy forum, seeking ways to secure the release of the hostages, and has pledged to provide all necessary support and information to aid the rescue effort.

The case highlights the ongoing challenge of kidnapping and human trafficking in Nigeria, as well as the critical role of law enforcement in responding to such incidents. The international community continues to monitor the situation and provides support to the affected families.
