Tragedy Strikes as Widow and Five Children Die After Eating Local Delicacy in Nigeria

A heartbreaking incident has occurred in Kano State, Nigeria, where a widow and her five children tragically lost their lives after consuming Danwake, a local Hausa delicacy. The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the deaths, stating that the six family members were rushed to Gwarzo General Hospital, where doctors confirmed their passing.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna, the incident occurred last Thursday when the widow, Alhakatu Abdulkarim, used expired cassava flour to prepare the food. He added that an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of their deaths, pending the medical report from the hospital.

The victims included Alhakatu Abdulkarim and her five children, Bashir, Firdausi, Hafsat, Usman, and Jamilu. The police are still awaiting the medical report to confirm the exact cause of death.

This tragic incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of food safety and proper preparation. It is crucial that individuals take necessary precautions when consuming local delicacies to avoid such incidents in the future.
