The Kwara State Police Command has lifted the temporary ban on gatherings and processions that was imposed four days ago. In a press statement signed by the command’s spokesperson on Saturday, officials noted that the ban helped maintain peace in the state. The command remains fully prepared to continue its constitutionally assigned duty of protecting the lives and property of all citizens and residents.
State Commissioner of Police, CP Paul Odama, expressed appreciation for the people of Kwara State, commending their determination to cooperate with security agencies and deepen the peace and harmony for which the state is known, despite any inconveniences the ban may have caused.
The temporary ban, initially announced on Wednesday, targeted unlawful rallies, processions, and protests while police evaluated the security situation. The order was deemed necessary after an intelligence report indicated that hoodlums planned to hijack gatherings to create chaos and disrupt the peace enjoyed by the state’s residents.
