Lagos State Traffic Monitoring Unit Impounds 57 Vehicles for Violations

In a bid to restore smooth traffic flow and ensure compliance with traffic regulations, the Traffic Monitoring and Investigation Unit of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has impounded 57 commercial vehicles and tricycles for various traffic violations.

According to Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola, the Deputy Director, Public Affairs of the ministry, the unit conducted a comprehensive enforcement operation around the Iyana Ipaja garage and its connecting roads, focusing on both inbound and outbound traffic.

During the exercise, 57 commercial vehicles and tricycles were apprehended and impounded for traffic violations, including illegal parking, picking up passengers at undesignated spots, and resulting in obstruction of traffic.

The operation effectively cleared the area of vehicular congestion caused by these infractions, restoring smooth traffic flow and ensuring compliance with traffic regulations, Ogunlola said.

The move is seen as a step in the right direction to address the growing concerns of traffic congestion in Lagos, a major commercial hub in West Africa. The state government’s efforts to tackle traffic violations are expected to improve the overall transportation experience for residents and visitors alike.

The Lagos State Ministry of Transportation has been working tirelessly to address the challenges of traffic congestion in the state, and this latest operation is a testament to their commitment to ensuring a safer and more efficient transportation system.
