North Central APC Forum Rejects Ganduje’s Dissolution of Benue Executives
The North Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has rejected the dissolution of Benue State executives of the party by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje. The Forum described the development as unacceptable, stating that Ganduje has no legitimate reason to suspend the executive members of the party from Benue.
According to the Forum’s Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, the same executive members Ganduje is dissolving are the ones they worked with to win the Benue State governorship and other key positions for the APC. Zazzaga emphasized that the North Central APC has been opposed to Ganduje’s chairmanship position since the onset, citing party arrangement that the position should be for the North Central region after Abdullahi Adamu’s resignation, not Ganduje from the North West state of Kano.
The Forum is also upset that a High Court in Makurdi, Benue State, on Wednesday restrained Ganduje from dissolving the state executive led by Augustine Agada, but the Ganduje-led NWC announced the dissolution of the state EXCO despite the court order. Zazzaga accused Ganduje of contempt of court, stating that he likes disobeying court orders and is incurring legal liabilities for the party on many fronts.
The North Central APC will not accept the dissolution of the Benue executives of the party, and stakeholders from the region will take further action if the decision is not reversed. Zazzaga warned that Ganduje is destroying the APC, stressing that if nothing is done to stop him, he would destroy the party very soon.
The Forum also highlighted the significant contributions of the North Central region to the success of the APC since 2015, including the region’s role in President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 election. In the same vein, Zazzaga noted that the APC clinched five out of the six governorship elections in the region.
The North Central APC Forum’s rejection of Ganduje’s dissolution of the Benue executives is a clear indication of the growing discontent within the party, particularly in the North Central region. As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how the party will respond to the Forum’s demands and whether Ganduje’s actions will have long-term consequences for the APC.
