APC Suffers Heavy Blow as Founding Father George Moghalu Resigns

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State has suffered a significant loss with the resignation of George Moghalu, a former Managing Director of National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) and former National Auditor of the party. Moghalu’s resignation, effective August 26, 2024, has sent shockwaves through the party’s ranks.

According to a letter addressed to his Uruagu Ward 1 chairman of APC in Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Moghalu notified the party of his decision to resign from his membership. The letter, dated August 26, 2024, expresses his gratitude to the party and its members for the opportunity to serve.

Moghalu, one of the founding fathers of the APC, played a crucial role in the party’s formation during the merger process. He also contested for the governorship office of Anambra State on the party’s platform in 2017 and 2021.

In his letter, Moghalu emphasized his desire to maintain a cordial relationship with the party and its members, stating that he wishes them the best and assures them of his best regard. However, he did not disclose his next political move, stating that it will be made public in due course.

Moghalu’s resignation is a significant blow to the APC, which has been facing internal struggles and challenges in recent times. The party’s leadership will need to regroup and re-strategize to overcome this setback and maintain its grip on power in Anambra State.
