CAF Confederation Cup: Rivers United boss, Eguma reveals target ahead of Diable Noirs clash

Rivers United head coach, Stanley Eguma has disclosed that his team’s main target is to progress beyond the group stage in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The Nigerian champions will begin their campaign in the group stage of the competition with an away clash against Congolese side, Diable Noirs on Sunday (today).

Seasoned campaigners, ASEC Mimosas of Cote d’Ivoire and DC Motema Pembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo are the other teams in the group.

The top two teams in the group will proceed to the quarter-finals.

Eguma remains modest on the Pride of Rivers ambition and claimed that securing a place in the next round is their target.

“I think we are the only underdog in the group but we are not afraid,” Eguma told a press conference.

“We are here for business and purpose, I think our ambition is to qualify from the group.”

The game will kick off at 5pm Nigeria time.
