TOM Calls on Nigerian President to Address Spiraling Fuel Prices and Economic Hardship

In a bid to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Nigerians, The Osun Masterminds (TOM) has urged President Bola Tinubu to take immediate action to address the rising prices of fuel and end the economic hardship plaguing the country.

Speaking during the August State of the State address in Osogbo on Saturday, Prof Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, the Executive Director of TOM, criticized the government’s slow implementation of palliative policies and the arbitrary pricing template of petroleum marketers, which has led to immense pressure on citizens.

According to Prof Oyedokun-Alli, the increase in fuel prices has transferred pressure to various sectors of the consumer market, resulting in hardship for ordinary Nigerians. He called on President Tinubu to immediately launch efforts to rein in the petroleum industry cabal that has held citizens at the jugular for too long.

TOM also demanded that the president give marching orders to several key Ministers to ensure they are held accountable for their responsibilities. The organization urged citizens to show responsibility and desist from deliberate price inflation, which is making life difficult for many.

Prof Oyedokun-Alli emphasized that true love for the country requires loyalty and commitment to the common good, and that Nigerians should prioritize empathy and cooperation during these challenging times.

The escalating prices of fuel, particularly Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), have become a major concern for citizens across Nigerian states. With the removal of fuel subsidy, the government’s failure to implement palliative measures quickly has only exacerbated the situation, leaving many Nigerians struggling to make ends meet.

As the situation continues to deteriorate, it remains to be seen whether President Tinubu will heed the calls of TOM and other concerned organizations to take decisive action to address the economic hardships facing the country.
