Fraudster Arrested for Motorbike Theft and Animal Rustling in Nigeria

In a significant breakthrough, the Jigawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a fraudster who was involved in a series of criminal activities, including motorbike theft and animal rustling. The suspect, Ilyasu Munkaila, 45, was arrested on August 28, 2024, in connection with a case of fraud conspiracy.

According to DSP Lawan Adam, the command’s spokesman, Munkaila was arrested by operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department in Dutse, Jigawa State Capital. The suspect confessed to committing the crime and revealed that he was paid N50,000 as his share of the proceeds.

The arrest is linked to a report filed by Alhaji Sani Muhammad, 50, from Kano State, who alleged that unknown individuals defrauded him at Nafara village, Birnin Kudu, on July 29, 2024. Besides Munkaila’s arrest, the police also recovered two motorbikes, two sheep, and a ram from the suspects.

During interrogation, Munkaila admitted to committing the crime, stating that he got his share of N50,000 upon successful completion of the deal. The police have assured that efforts are being made to apprehend other suspects involved in the crime.

The Jigawa State Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety in the state. The command’s dedication to tackling criminal activities is a positive step towards maintaining law and order in the region.
