HMD’s Nokia Lumia 1020-Inspired Smartphone Emerges with 5-Camera Setup

Fresh from the streets of speculation, a report from HMD News claims that Finnish phone maker HMD is crafting a new smartphone inspired by the classic Nokia Lumia 1020, a cult favorite among photography enthusiasts. The leakster has managed to grab hold of an exclusive render of the expected design, revealing a significant departure from HMD’s previous box-like design pattern.

According to the reports, the alleged HMD smartphone shares an uncanny resemblance with its Nokia flagship predecessor. While the 1020 design is undoubtedly retro-futuristic, the rumoured HMD device will see a transformation into a similar box-like build, although it will house a distinctive feature – a centre-aligned, circular camera module, instead of a rectangular island on the back of the phone.

If the rendered images are an indication, we can expect this smartphone to boast not one, but four camera lenses alongside a single LED flash. In a peculiar move, these camera arrays are spread out across the circular camera unit, resulting in an uncommon yet peculiar design that nods to Nokia’s nostalgia-infused engineering.

HMD’s intended target with the Lumia 1020-inspired smartphone? The original’s reputation among camera aficionados. Built with an eye for artistic precision, this new rumoured phone’s camera hardware may share DNA with Nokia’s legacy offerings. However, any real-world images, pricing details, and technical specs for this unnamed device have remained under wraps, much to the patience-testing plight of eager early adopters.

As enthusiasts continue to chew on render images and specs, many can’t help but remember the days of Nokia Lumia 1020’s unique yellow casing option. Does HMD intend to keep the classic retro vibe or reinvent itself with some modern colours?

Only the months to come will clear the haze.
