Ogun PDP Clears Former APC Chairman Wale Adedayo for Chairmanship Primaries
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has cleared the former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, Wale Adedayo, to participate in the party’s chairmanship primaries scheduled for Saturday. This development comes after hundreds of aspirants obtained nomination forms and underwent screening for eligibility to contest in the upcoming Local Government Elections in November.
According to a statement made available to journalists by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Afolabi Orekoya, Adedayo is recontesting for the Chairmanship position in Ijebu East Local Government. The party has scheduled Thursday, 5th, and Saturday, 7th September as respective dates for the Councillorship and Chairmanship Primary Elections across the 236 Wards and 20 Local Governments.
Orekoya emphasized the importance of party members participating peacefully in the primaries to elect councilors and chairmanship candidates of their choice. The former Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, who was previously elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was impeached in August last year after accusing Governor Dapo Abiodun of diverting N10.8 billion local government funds. The state government had denied the allegations, describing them as baseless.
With Adedayo cleared to participate in the PDP chairmanship primaries, the stage is set for a keen contest in Ijebu East Local Government. As party members prepare to elect their candidates, it remains to be seen whether Adedayo’s experience and allegations against the state government will give him an edge in the race.
