194 Congolese Nationals Repatriated from Angola for Illegal Entry
In a recent operation, the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in Angola’s Cabinda Province repatriated 194 citizens from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) for illegally entering and staying in the country. The repatriation took place at the Yema border post, according to a statement from the Provincial Delegation of the Ministry of the Interior in Cabinda.
The group of 194 individuals, comprising 144 men and 50 women, was found in various locations in the region during control and inspection actions against foreigners in an irregular migration situation. This operation is part of the SME’s efforts to regulate the flow of foreigners into the country.
Interestingly, the SME in Cabinda has been monitoring over a thousand DRC citizens, with 401 holding resident status and 1,127 possessing work visas. This highlights the complexity of the situation, with many individuals having legitimate reasons for being in the country, while others may be in the country illegally.
The repatriation of these 194 individuals is a significant step towards addressing the issue of irregular migration in Angola.
