Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency Aims to Eliminate Potholes, Improve Road Conditions

In a bid to transform its road network, the Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) has announced plans to make the state a pothole-free zone. The agency’s chairman, Busoye Ogunlade, revealed that the second phase of repair works has begun on Zion Plaza-Olusoji Avenue, linking the Alao-Akala Expressway in Ibadan.

The first phase of the repair was executed in June 2024, and the new phase is expected to bring relief to residents and commuters. Ogunlade stated that desilting work has begun on drainage to alleviate traffic gridlock and improve road conditions.

“We designed the existing drains on that road and cut the bad portions of the road. We are looking at having a state with zero potholes, with clearly defined outcomes of smooth roads that will aid our socio-economic development,” Ogunlade said.

The chairman commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his swift approval of the repairs on roads, stating that the agency considered the second phase of the road due to its deplorable condition. Ogunlade emphasized that the repairs will positively impact businesses and transportation in the area.

“Governor Makinde listens to the cries of the masses. We have been able to assess some roads in bad conditions, and we are starting a massive repair in the state. Presently, our men are at the second phase of Zion Plaza-Olusoji Avenue linking Alao Akala Expressway, doing repair works,” Ogunlade said.

The Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency’s efforts aim to improve the state’s road network, which has been plagued by potholes and poor conditions. The agency’s commitment to making the state a pothole-free zone is a significant step towards enhancing the socio-economic development of the state.
