INEC Uploads 90% Edo Guber Results on IReV

Edo Governorship Election: INEC Reports 90.33% of Results Successfully Uploaded

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made significant progress in the Edo governorship election, uploading 90.33% of the results to its Results Viewing Portal, IReV. As of the time of filing this report, results from 4,082 out of the 4,519 polling units where elections were held in the state have been successfully transmitted on the portal. This means that only results from 437 polling units are yet to be uploaded.

INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo, Anugbum Onuoha, had earlier reassured the public that electronic transmission of results would proceed smoothly, barring any network disruptions. "We have trained the operators for the BVAS. They are set. BVAS is to accredit the voters and to know the total number of voters that will vote at that level and that polling unit. After that, the voters will start voting. At the end of the day, they will count the results, and it will be uploaded to our IReV," he assured.

The election pits several top contenders, including Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party, Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress, and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party, against each other. With 2.2 million voters with permanent vote cards across the 18 local government areas in the state, the competition is expected to be fierce.

Interestingly, Media Talk Africa had earlier reported that INEC uploaded 86.55% of the results on IReV, indicating a significant increase in the number of results uploaded in a short span of time. The remaining 437 polling units are expected to upload their results soon, providing a clearer picture of the election outcome.

As the nation waits with bated breath for the final results, INEC’s progress in uploading the results is a testament to its commitment to transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
