Ekiti Police Warns Youths Against October 1 Protest Hijack

Ekiti State Police Commissioner Warns Youth Against Joining October 1 Protest

In a move to prevent chaos and disorder, the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, has cautioned young people in the state against participating in a protest scheduled for October 1. Akinwale made the plea in an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday, urging youth to refrain from joining the protest to avoid it being hijacked by miscreants.

According to Akinwale, “We are enjoining the people to ensure they don’t go out to protest so that hoodlums will not hijack it, which will not be to anyone’s benefit.” The commissioner emphasized the need for peace and tranquility in the state, revealing that the police have been engaging with stakeholders and youths to ensure that they do not take the law into their own hands.

The police commissioner’s warning comes as the country faces an economic crisis both nationally and internationally. Akinwale acknowledged that sacrifices need to be made, but emphasized that using illegality to pursue legality is unacceptable. He encouraged youths to prioritize peace and dialogue, stating that it is unnecessary for anyone to take a path that goes against the pursuit of peace.

In the face of economic adversity, Akinwale’s message of caution is timely and crucial. His emphasis on the importance of maintaining peace and order highlights the need for responsible civic engagement and responsible leadership.
