Nigerian Air Force Appoints New Director of Public Relations and Information

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the appointment of Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa as its new Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI). The appointment was approved by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, following a strategic realignment aimed at strengthening the NAF’s public and community engagement functions.

According to Group Captain Kabiru Ali, Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, the CAS also approved the redeployment of the erstwhile DOPRI, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, to the newly established NAF Civil-Military Relations Branch as Director of Coordination and Cooperation.

As the new Spokesperson, Air Commodore Akinboyewa is expected to continue the NAF’s efforts to build perception, maintain transparency, and enhance public trust and confidence. With his extensive experience in key command and staff appointments, as well as his education in Mathematics, Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering, and Security and Strategic Studies, Air Commodore Akinboyewa is well-equipped to lead the NAF’s media engagements, strategic communications, and information dissemination efforts.

Air Commodore Akinboyewa hails from Ondo West Local Government Area in Ondo State and is a member of the 43rd Regular Combatant Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA). Throughout his career, he has attended various courses both locally and internationally, demonstrating his commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

The appointment of Air Commodore Akinboyewa is a significant step forward for the NAF, as it seeks to strengthen its relationships with the general public and stakeholders. With his extensive experience and education, he is poised to lead the NAF’s public relations and information efforts with professionalism and expertise.
