Aisha Yesufu: No Party Member, Denies Seeking Appointments for Financial Independence

Aisha Yesufu, a prominent activist-cum-politician, has clarified her political stance, stating that she is not a card-carrying member of the Labour Party (LP) or any other political party. Yesufu made this declaration during an interview on Seun Okinbaloye’s podcast, Mic On.

In the podcast, Yesufu also set the record straight on her motivations, insisting that she works for her financial independence. She emphasized that she has never sought appointments or contracts, citing her diverse business ventures.

“What I did was to focus on my financial independence before I started speaking on Nigerian issues,” Yesufu explained. “I am not a member of the Labour Party. I have never been a card-carrying member of any party. I dare anyone, living or dead, to say that I have ever gone to your place to look for an appointment, contract, or whatever. I am a trader! I buy, I sell, I distribute, build, and sell houses,” she stressed.

As a member of the 2023 LP presidential campaign council, Yesufu’s comments have sparked interest in her political ambitions. While clarifying her impartial stance, she has also underscored her commitment to financial independence, which she believes allows her to approach issues without external influences.

This straightforward declaration from Aisha Yesufu provides a clear understanding of her stance, and her determination to maintain financial independence. With her name being mentioned in ongoing political discussions, this statement serves as a crucial clarification of her position in the 2023 electoral landscape.
