Kaduna State’s Former First Lady Corrects Ex-Senator Over Economics Blunder

In a surprising turn of events, Hadiza El-Rufai, the former First Lady of Kaduna State, has discredited a recent statement made by former Senator Shehu Sani, a human rights activist. Sani, a former member of the 8th Senate, took to social media to express his opinion on the connection between President Bola Tinubu’s foreign trips and the rise in commodity prices. He argued that the President’s travels out of the country were causing taxes and commodity prices to “go up.”

However, El-Rufai, known for her keen eye for correcting grammatical errors, spotted the post and decided to set the record straight. She pointed out that Sani’s assertion should have been “go up” instead of “goes up,” a correction that may seem minor, but is essential in the context of economic discussions.

The two former political adversaries had a long-standing feud while Governor Nasir El-Rufai was in office. It is reported that their rift ultimately cost Sani his seat in the Senate in 2019, following a failed bid to reclaim it in the next election. Sani left the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the height of their disagreement, but ultimately lost the election to Uba Sani, the incumbent governor of Kaduna State and a former ally of El-Rufai.

This latest development has once again pitted the two former political foes in the spotlight, with El-Rufai emerging victorious and Sani left to face the consequences of his economic faux pas. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of linguistic accuracy in high-level discussions, and the scrutiny that comes with public criticism.
