Oxlade: Ghana Loves Me More Than Nigeria

Nigerian Afrobeat Star Oxlade Reveals He Gets More Love from Ghana than Nigeria

In a recent interview, Nigerian Afrobeat musician Oxlade opened up about his experiences and feelings towards the music industry in Nigeria. When asked about his decision to feature Sarkodie, a Ghanaian hip-hop legend, on his debut album "Oxlade from Africa," the singer shed light on his unexpected revelation: he receives more love from Ghana than his home country of Nigeria.

Oxlade’s comments come after he earlier posted on social media about "OGs" boycotting and blackmailing him, which he claims sparked his frustration with the Nigerian music industry. The singer accuses some individuals of trying to dictate his career trajectory, saying, "I hate the mindset of people trying to play god. When they feel like they can determine your trajectory. Sometimes they feel I see them outside and I don’t greet them well."

The talented artistcy added, "If I’m being honest with you, Ghana has shown me more love than Nigeria." This is a surprising statement, considering Oxlade’s roots in Nigeria, but it may be a reflection of the support and appreciation he has received from Ghanaian fans and artists.

The music industry in Nigeria, like many other countries, is known for its competitive and often cutthroat environment. With talented artists like Oxlade, it’s no surprise that he has faced challenges and frustrations. Whether his claims about Ghana showing him more love are genuine or not, one thing is clear – the music industry can be a tough and unforgiving place to navigate.

For now, Oxlade seems to be focusing on his music, having just released his debut album. With a unique sound that blends Afrobeat with international influences, it will be interesting to see how his career unfolds in the coming months and years. One thing is for sure – he will have a strong fan base in Ghana to back him all the way.
