PDP Northeast leaders back governors’ decision on National Working Committee

PDP Northeast Leaders Endorse Governors’ Forum on National Leadership Crisis

In a bid to stabilize the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), leaders from the Northeast zone have thrown their support behind the recent decision by the Party’s Governors Forum on the ongoing national leadership crisis. The move comes after governors elected under the PDP annulled the suspensions of some National Working Committee members and restored the status quo, with acting National Chairman Umar Damagum at the helm.

According to Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the Forum, Bala Mohammed, there is no longer a faction within the PDP National Working Committee, with operations returning to normal under Damagum’s leadership until the governors and other party bodies meet to address outstanding issues.

The Zonal Working Committee and States Chairman expressed confidence that this move will help strengthen the party’s future, praising the PDP governors for their infrastructural developmental efforts and reaffirming the party’s role as a beacon of hope for addressing Nigeria’s current challenges.

“We believe that this decision will bring decorum and sanity to the party, leading us to lofty heights,” said Chairman of the Gombe State PDP, Tahir Shehu. “We also reflected on the 16 years of our party at the helm of affairs as a ruling party and how we lost out to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.”

The leaders lamented that the APC administration has caused severe hardship for many Nigerians, expressing regret that, despite this suffering, no proactive steps are being taken to address the situation. They emphasized that the PDP remains the last hope for Nigerians, insisting that the party is best equipped to provide the solutions needed to tackle the country’s current challenges.

The Northeast Zonal PDP also commended the Governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, and Taraba, expressing confidence in their leadership and encouraging them to continue delivering the benefits of democracy to the people of their respective states and Nigeria.

As the PDP continues to navigate its leadership crisis, it is clear that the party’s strength lies in the support of its governors and leaders, who are working together to build a more unified and effective party. With the party’s future uncertain, it remains to be seen how this decision will shape the future of the PDP and its ability to provide the solutions Nigerians so desperately need.
