Kebbi State Waives Fees for Optic Fibre Deployment

Kebbi State Takes a Giant Leap in Digital Connectivity

In a bold move to boost digital connectivity and attract investments, Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has signed an executive order waiving all statutory fees for the deployment of optic fibre cables across the state. This groundbreaking decision applies to all telecommunications companies operating in Nigeria, paving the way for a more connected and invested future.

According to Dr. Kabiru Muhammad Kamba, Director General of the Kebbi State Investment Promotion Agency (KIPA), the waiver is a deliberate attempt to enhance connectivity and investment opportunities in the state. Dr. Kamba made the announcement during a visit to the General Manager of Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, where he also sought to foster partnerships with the aviation sector.

The waiver is expected to have a significant impact on the state’s 21 local government areas, which can now be easily connected with optic fibre cables without incurring fees. This development is set to improve internet access and speed, making it an attractive destination for businesses and investors.

Telecommunications giants such as MTN, Airtel, and Glo are among the companies that stand to benefit from this waiver. With the removal of statutory fees, these companies can now deploy optic fibre cables across the state, leading to enhanced digital connectivity and improved services for residents.

Kebbi State’s bold move is expected to set a precedent for other states in Nigeria, highlighting the potential for innovative solutions to drive digital connectivity and economic growth. As the state looks to the future, this decision is likely to have far-reaching consequences, transforming the digital landscape and opening up new opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
