Tinubu Sacks Five Nigerian Ministers Due to Underperformance

In a shocking move, President Bola Tinubu has relieved five of his ministers of their duties effective immediately. The affected ministers include Uju-Ken Ohanenye, Minister of Women Affairs, Lola Ade-John, Minister of Tourism, Tahir Mamman, Minister of Education, Abdullahi Muhammad Gwarzo, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, and Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Minister of Youth Development.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, confirmed the development on Wednesday. This decision is believed to be a direct result of Tinubu’s previously stated intention to reevaluate the performance of his ministers, with a focus on those who have failed to meet expectations.

According to prior statements, Tinubu had threatened to sack underperforming ministers after the administration’s first year in office. This mass dismissal is seen as a major shake-up in the Nigerian government.

In addition to the ministerial changes, the President has also renamed the Ministry of Niger Delta to the Ministry of Regional Development. This move suggests a broader effort to reform and streamline the government.

While the details of the dismissals and reorganization are still coming to light, it is clear that President Tinubu is committed to holding his government to high standards of performance. As the situation continues to unfold, we can expect further insight into the motivations behind these significant changes to the Nigerian government.
