Yobe Governor Allocates 300 Hectares of Land to Boost Export Activities

In a move to stimulate trade and business activities in Yobe State, Governor Mai Mala Buni has allocated 300 hectares of land to the Nigeria Export Processing Zone Agency (NEPZA). The land allocation is part of the state government’s efforts to support the agency’s activities and promote sustainable development in the region.

According to a statement by the Director-General, Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, the governor presented the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) and Right of Occupancy (R of O) to NEPZA’s Executive Director, Trade and Investment, Alhaji Usman Bakori. During the presentation, Governor Buni urged the agency to utilize the land efficiently and speedily to enhance development in the state.

The governor emphasized that the land was deliberately allocated close to the Cargo Airport to stimulate trade and business activities in the state. He stated, "You should ensure efficient and speedy use of the land to enhance development. Government deliberately allocated the land to the agency close to the Cargo Airport, to stimulate trade and business activities in the state."

Governor Buni also expressed his administration’s commitment to supporting the agency and other partners to fast-track sustainable development in the state. He noted that NEPZA has a significant role to play in promoting the export of agricultural produce, including sesame seeds, gum arabic, livestock, and other crops that are produced in large commercial quantities in the state.

Responding to the allocation, Mr. Bakori commended the governor’s gesture and assured that development on the land would commence soon. He stated, "The certificates have equipped us to hasten development on the land." With this land allocation, the state government aims to create a conducive environment for trade and investment, ultimately contributing to the economic growth and development of Yobe State.
