Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve, once indifferent to the Caitlin Clark fanfare, has since shifted her stance, praising the young star for her impact on women’s basketball. Initially dismissing the pro-Clark crowds during the 2024 WNBA season, Reeve’s view evolved after the Paris Olympics, describing Clark as a “transcendent roadshow” and a “headliner” for the sport.

Reflecting on the season, Reeve expressed gratitude for the heightened interest Clark brought to the league. The Lynx coach recalled the excitement that followed Clark’s draft announcement, highlighting how it spurred a renewed enthusiasm in the WNBA community. “It was one of the best years we’ve ever had… the interest in the team and the buzz was palpable,” Reeve noted.

In August, as the Lynx celebrated Maya Moore’s jersey retirement during a game against Clark’s Indiana Fever, Reeve openly wished she could have Clark on her team. Since mid-season, Reeve has consistently recognized Clark’s contributions, even referring to her as one of the sport’s most promising talents.
